Iwaba Estate and Iwaba Safaris Zimbabwe

The Seymour-Smith family are the owners of Iwaba Estate and Iwaba Safaris. They have owned and lived at this property for 47 years.

The conservation of all wildlife and in particular the black and white rhino has been their primary objective over those years. There is a population of over 40 white rhino and black rhino. Protection of the rhino has been successful and there have been no losses of Rhino due to poaching.

In December 2006, Iwaba Estate was forcibly taken over by high ranking military officers using army personnel. The Seymour-Smith family were forced to vacate their homes and the estate within 10 days of this occupation which is ongoing.

We do not know if any protection is in place to conserve the wildlife, especially the rhino and elephant populations for the future. This land occupation is illegal under both Zimbabwe law and under International law.

We therefore wish it to be known that the Seymour-Smith family remain the legal owners of Iwaba Estate and the operating company Iwaba Safaris and any agent, operator, hunter, tourist, fisherman, game trader, poacher, farmer, livestock owner, or any other person whatsoever, who may utilize or attempt to utilize or obtain, in any way, any of the natural resources, wild animals, plant, machinery, fixtures and fittings on Iwaba Estate for any purpose could be subject to legal proceedings being taken against them without further notice.
